Hydroforming: pressure from within!

Weight is not the only thing that can be used for forming – fluid media introduced into tubular workpieces under high pressure also form them by stretching the workpiece and pressing it into the surrounding mold. Advantages of the process: high stiffness of the workpieces combined with low weight, and cost savings, e.g. due to the low number of process steps. The hydroforming process is frequently used in the manufacture of premium vehicles, particularly for weight-optimized vehicle components.
