KS Arctec - controlled torch cleaning

Tried - and - tested KUKA Technology now in the fifth generation

The KUKA arc welding function package KS Arctec has been specially developed for robotic arc welding. Optimum process reliability and maximum system availability and flexibility are the result of more than 25 years’ experience in robotguided welding.

The modular design allows the integration of tried-and-tested standard components as well as user-friendly installation of the welding control or power source outside the cell.

The basic functions for programming and operating the robots/welding process are integrated in the KUKA Control Panel KCP. This means that the user always has all functions and data to hand.

Features

Main Drive directly on Robot wrist: The KUKA Master Feeder Quadro-drive

  • Maximum process reliability and system availability due to the main drive on the robot wrist – even under challenging conditions, such as out-of-position welding, fast changes of robot orientation or extreme movements of the energy supply harness.
  • Four driven wheels ensure stable and smooth wire feed – even with thin or soft wires (steel, aluminium, bronze)
  • Powerful wire feed with low contact force, therefore optimum process stability
  • Wire speed regulation directly before the welding torch – therefore in the immediate vicinity of the process (no slip-stick-effect)
  • Highly dynamic control of wire speed allows extremely fast reaction to parameter changes as well as optimum arc striking characteristics
  • Quick-change couplings at the torch and energy supply harness ends.

Technical Data

  • Push-Push System
  • Wire feed speed 0 - 25 m/min
  • Wire diameter 0.6 - 1.6 mm
  • Feed tolerance < 1% (AISi12 1.0 mm)

Classic Robotic Cell

  • The robot guides the welding torch along the seam
  • The workpiece is clamped on stationary tables or on single- or multi-axis component positioners

Welding under a stationary torch and combonent handling

  • The robot moves the component under the stationary torch
  • The robot enables flexible component handling in the optimum welding position
  • Optimum positioning ensures high welding speed and maintenance of tolerances combined with excellent weld quality
The robot links several process stations (e.g. MIG /MAG and spot welding)
  • High component flexibility
  • Integrated component flow concept (e.g. easy transfer out of station)
  • Uncomplicated smoke extraction
  • Reduced capital investment

Welding in collaboration

  • Up to four robots welding in collaboration at the positioner
  • Up to four robots welding in collaboration with each other (e.g. jigless)
