The system uses an industrial robot equipped with a pneumatically actuated gripper to pick up aircraft access panels from dedicated panel loading magazines. The panels are then taken to a fixed polishing spindle where they are polished.

The polishing spindle has an in built compliance unit and is housed within an extraction booth. The entire system is housed on a platform allowing quick and simple re-location.

The addition of a vision system with KUKA Vision software allowes the processing of a wide variety of dissimilar components.
