Magnetarc welding |
Welding precision - Magnetarc welding
The Magnetarc welding process developed by KUKA Systems is a pressure welding process with an arc that is moved magnetically under shielding gas.
This process can be used to join hollow sections with wall thicknesses between 0.7 and 10 mm. Suitable materials are electrically conductive and fusible materials, such as carbon steel or low-alloy steels, free-cutting steels, cast steel and malleable cast iron. This process is also ideal for joining combinations of these materials to one another. |

The Magnetarc Welding process:
- The clamped workpieces are brought into contact. The weld current is then switched on.
- In a defined retract motion, the workpieces are moved apart, thereby striking the arc. The arc is rotated by means of a magnetic field.
- The rotating arc melts the weld surface. Rotational speed and shaping of the arc, as well as progression and quantity of energy input, are precisely controlled.
- The workpieces are joined by means of a forging operation.
The forge velocity and forge force are defined for each specific component. |

The main Advantages of KUKA Friction and Magnetarc Welding MachinesModern Friction and Magnetarc processes allow the use of expensive material only where required on the component. |
|
| Avoid unnecessary problems – opt for a product process in which every component is validated. |
|
| The automotive industry demands solutions that reduce weight – Friction and Magnerarc Welding pave the way for the mobility of the future. |
