KUKA and Chrysler agree on payment of outstanding receivables – KTPO’s body-in-white production ready to restart

Augsburg, June 24, 2009
KUKA and Chrysler have reached an agreement under which KUKA’s pre-petition claims will be paid by Chrysler. Chrysler applied for bankruptcy protection on April 30, 2009. The remaining receivables related to foreign subsidiaries of Chrysler which have not filed for Chapter 11, or unvouchered receipts, are expected to be paid in due course according to terms.

In addition, all KUKA contracts and conditions with Chrysler LLC (old), including KTPO/Jeep Wrangler, are designated to be assigned to the Chrysler Group (new) and will be continued.

Production at KUKA’s Toledo facility for Jeep Wranglers is expected to resume in the last week of June as per Chrysler's manufacturing plan. Jeep Wrangler sales rose 11 percent in the first five months of the year. The Jeep Wrangler is one of the few models that saw increased sales.

KUKA had recently reported in the interim report for the first quarter 2009, that as of April 30, 2009, receivables associated with Chrysler totaled about EUR 20 million.
