On September 5, 2008, Baden-Württemberg's premier Günther H. Oettinger and Markus Ferber, EU parliamentarian, visited KUKA in Augsburg.
KUKA AG CEO Gerhard Wiedemann and his designated successor, Dr. Horst J. Kayser, explained the company's business model, "Automation Made by KUKA", to the guests. Günther H. Oettinger familiarized himself with the group's strategy, which is to focus on general industry while at the same time offering innovative solutions for the automotive industry.
During the company tour, the premier expressed considerable interest in the manufacturing process, current projects and product innovations. For example, he was able to observe a pilot installation consisting of twelve cooperating robots. In addition, premier Oettinger learned more about KUKA's practice of collaborating with Baden-Württemberg companies. Employees and apprentices also had an opportunity to talk to Baden-Württemberg's premier.
The premier, company executives and politicians from greater Augsburg subsequently discussed the future potential of robot-supported automation and some technology promotion ideas. During the meeting, the premier was impressed by the KUKA Group's capabilities and innovative spirit. |
