| Making its debut at China’s largest trade fair for solar energy and photovoltaics, SNEC PV Expo 2009 in Shanghai, KUKA Systems launched its bid to expand in the Asian market. From 6 to 8 May 2009, the “Energy Team” from KUKA Systems in Augsburg and its Chinese subsidiary KUKA Flexible Manufacturing Systems, based in Shanghai, presented the latest technologies for the automated production of solar cells and solar modules at their trade fair booth covering an area of over 100 m².
Potential customers from China, Korea and Taiwan informed themselves at the KUKA Systems booth about products from the company’s extensive range, including the new band and wire saws for wafer manufacture, non-contact wafer handling, and the KUKA stringer and module flasher for crystalline modules. The spotlight was on innovative automation steps and processes covering all aspects of photovoltaic module production, such as automatic edge trimming and the fully-automatic, robot-based framing station for solar modules.
“As a turnkey supplier, we offer our customers an ‘all-inclusive package’”, says Albert Vontz, Energy Product Group Manager at KUKA Systems in Augsburg. Based on detailed planning and material flow analyses, the automation steps and individual processes are adapted to the specific customer requirements and installed as an automated system. Optimal output and economical use of resources are the primary factors when building individual stations or entire manufacturing lines.
KUKA Systems is ideally positioned to place its products and services on the growing solar module production market in China and Asia. |
