Automation system for the aircraft construction industry - KUKA Systems appears at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget for the first time

For the first time, KUKA Systems is to present its expertise in the aerospace industry at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The worldwide network of the KUKA Aerospace Team will be showcasing its innovative and partially robot-based manufacturing solutions for the aviation and aerospace industry. These solutions include the provision of engineering services, automated production systems, process technology, flexible robot cells for individual solutions, tools and standard components.
KUKA end effector for joining CFRP materials
The KUKA end effector may well be the centre of interest here. This is an innovative and unprecedented multifunctional tool for joining CFRP materials in aircraft construction. The KUKA end effector combines drilling head, sealant applicator and rivet inserter in one device. There are also end effectors suitable for the fixing of rivets and hence the fully-automated drilling and riveting of CFRP materials.

“The level of automation in the aircraft construction industry is actually still quite low,” remarks Markus Gruber, aerospace product group manager at KUKA Systems.” Our KUKA end effector is a component designed to increase productivity in this area while at the same time reducing manufacturing costs.”

The KUKA Systems stand at this year’s Paris Air Show, due to be held from 15 to 21 June in Le Bourget, is in Hall 6, Number C 42.
