Plunges in with lightning speed and grips on tight – the KUKA Cobra. In this new complete system for press automation, the gripper is swiveled horizontally, resulting in greater freedom of motion and greater flexibility in the press. The higher velocities are achieved by superimposing the axes of the robot and linear system while simultaneously reducing the mass of the loads moved. The KUKA Cobra offers a maximum output of up to 18 workpieces per minute. The flexible, linear workpiece transfer from press to press is carried out using freely programmable motion curves. The maximum combined weight of the gripper and workpiece that can be picked up is 100 kg. The transfer unit can be fitted with all commonly-used tooling with the aid of a standardized adapter plate. To ensure high output performance, the KS PressTec system software and a workpiece handling function package are fully integrated.
